BIKE TEAM

Mandate: To provide rapid response to a variety of situations ranging from first aid emergencies to Security / law enforcement and searches for missing persons.

Background:

HARP's bike team was started in the summer of 1995 by Rod Frost our Supervisor of Operations. Rod had a keen interest in mountain biking as a hobby and realized the value of utilizing bikes in a security application. Out of this idea the HARP bike team was formed. All team members are volunteers and utilize their own bikes. The adaptability, speed and stealth of the bikes have allowed them to provide a security presence over a much larger area than previously possible. The speed of their response has aided with numerous first aid situations and trouble areas. The unit has proven itself invaluable in many areas and will continue to be utilized in numerous diverse areas this summer !!!

The team has since been used for a variety of charity and special events. There past accomplishments include:

  • Burlington's Sound of Music Festival 1997 - 2000
  • Harbour Patrols Oakville / Bronte 1999
